PLA workshop, Guta, Slovakia

In Slovakia, the next PLA workshop took place in the Corvin Mátyás Elementary School, organised by the school.

The aim of the PLA workshop was to get to know the needs of the invited participants – active facilitators of the students’ learning process – to get their opinions, to participate in the development of the content development concept and pedagogical methodology, to discuss the curricular content for children and parents (in cooperation with the school).

Through a large group guided discussion (focus group interview), we wanted to get the views of the participants on all the areas covered by the project activities, such as the maths and literacy curriculum to be developed (DIMAP), the content for parents (PROPA) and the characteristics of the LTP application. The participants came from institutions with pupils from a wide range of socio-cultural backgrounds, so the picture that emerged is also very complex and varied. After discussing the technical ideas, we would like to feed back the experiences and opinions of the participants into the development process.

The focus group discussion proved to be productive, and the opinions expressed suggest that the participants believe that the app would be useful for parents and teachers in a number of ways. It would help parents in terms of control and motivation. It would also make teachers’ work easier when teaching online. They can develop individual assessments for each student, it helps differentiation and helps parents, and it helps cooperation with the school, it has a positive impact on the relationship between teachers and parents.
